  • HiMom! Music Hour

    HiMom! Music Hour

    Tuesdays :: 8-10am

    DJ Trafton

    I play a mix of new indie/electropop stuff (like the notwist, q and not u, daedelus, simian and broken social scene) and sometimes I get nostalgic and play older stuff that I consider to be classic like the Clash, the Kinks, Elvis Costello and Pavement. I have started defining anything from more than 5 years ago as old. Every once in a while, I play non-sweary hiphop and long for halcyon days of hiphopinfinity.com.

  • cicada

    Cicada (sub) Media

    Thursday :: Noon-2 pm

    David Gracon

    The general format of Cicada (sub) Media is a focus on new (and sometimes older) indie, post-punk, post-rock, oddball electronica, ambient/minimalism, and various avant-gardisms. I'm very open to audience participation and dialog, and I have an on-air haiku contest, where a listener can answer a trivia question and then I create a haiku over the course the show, based on their topic suggestion (which is usually pretty goofy). I also try to provide information and context to the music I play, and I'm always open to fielding calls regarding the stuff I play.

    This program is modeled after Brave New Waves, which used to air on CBC Radio 2, out of Montreal, Canada — a show that truly influenced my musical taste. Thank you Pattie!
